We are a mixed working farm sitting on the edge of a picturesque and timeless beautiful hamlet of Middleton by Youlgreave. The milk from our dairy cows goes to Cropwell Bishop Stilton Cheese makers which is a small family run firm close by. We have our own Aberdeen Angus bull and the calves produced are reared to maturity and sold to Dovecote Park who process the meat to be sold by Waitrose. We have a small herd of mule ewes and lamb from the middle of March. We grow wheat and barley to be used mainly on our own farm. We have a few free range hens (you will appreciate a ‘real’ egg with your breakfast) and of course working dogs and usually a few kittens.
There are many walks straight from our door so you can leave your car locked up secure off-road whilst you stay with us. There is also an excellent bus service which comes into the village 8 times a day for those wishing to use this transport. We have bike storage space available if you wish to bring your own bikes or cycle hire is available nearby. The nearest village is one mile away with pubs and shops. There is a footpath all the way but no street lighting. It is a very pleasant walk.
On arrival you are welcomed with a fresh pot of tea or coffee and homemade cakes in the guest lounge, which is for your use only. Breakfast is served in the dining room. There is a TV. Books and games. We also have a good selection and information on local attractions and maps for you to use.
There are cycle trails (Tissington and High Peak) close by, fishing, golf, balloon flights, the market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and Buxton are a short drive away. The famous Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by. Well known films such as Pride and Prejudice, The Duchess, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Wolf Man and Heartbeat have all been filmed close by. Escourted walks can be arranged.
We can provide a packed lunch if this is ordered in advance.
We are a non smoking farmhouse.
Our family room has a double bed and two full sized single beds. This room is available for guests as a double, twin or family room. It is ensuite with an electric shower, toilet, hand basin and shaver point. Bath and hand towels are provided together with shampoo, soap and other accessories. There are two comfortable seats in front of a large window overlooking our fields and the beautiful scenery beyond. This is a nice quiet room.
We also offer a double ensuite room with its own private bathroom with full sized bath, electric shower, hand basin, toilet and shaver point. Towels and bathroom accessories are also provided in this room. There are two comfortable chairs in this room.
Both bedrooms have a remote controlled TV, clock/radio, hairdryer, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits.
A full English breakfast is served at 8.30am with a choice for vegetarians. Will you please advise when booking.
The price is £28.00 per adult per night for two or more nights. A child is £17.00 per night.
We ask you to arrive at a mutually agreeable time after 4.00pm and to vacate your room by 10.30pm on the day of departure. If you would like to leave any bags or your car so that you can make the most of your last day that is OK.
We also have a Caravan Club CL site with electric hook-ups and a Camping Barn available.
